Taiwan travel tips, anyone?

I like traveling. Unfortunately, it’s not the world’s cheapest hobby. So, airline seat sales, no matter how frustrating they can be sometimes, are still always welcome. I got lucky during Cebu Pacific’s 11-11 sale. So, next year, Pad and I get to see—

Taipei 101

Taipei 101!

Among other places of course. I’ve never been to Taiwan and am not familiar with its attractions, other than Taipei 101 that we learned about from a Nat Geo special. We have more than half a year to plan, but since neither of us speak Mandarin, I think it would be good to come prepared.

So, I need your help. What do you like about Taiwan? Do you recommend any attractions? Any travel tips? Any blog posts / reviews? Please share them with us. Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

  1. Get their version of an MRT card; it will help a lot. The only times we took a cab were going to the hotel from the bus station (the airport bus drops you off at a central station), because it was in the middle of the night; and then another going to the same bus station because of our baggage. Other than that, their train system can bring you north to Danshui (if you want to go there) or to south to Kaohsiung (via bullet train).
